Memories of childhood

Memories of childhood

When we were children we used to pretend they were ballerinas. We would pick them and pinch off three of the stamens or sepals, leaving two, that would become her arms. The three prongs on top, were her crown .We would twirl them around with our fingers and dance around the yard, pretending to be ballerinas too until the flowers wilted. We used to have great imaginations when we were kids,...didn't we...?!

I know ,I know, ...if it doesn't move, walk, talk, and play all by itself, the children today, don't know what to do with them...it's sad...no imagination is needed with toys anymore !!

I was thinking it looked like a little ballerina. Lovely. We used hollyhock with a toothpick for arms. This passionflowers is more fancy than our country bumpkins...lol. :-)

We didn't have passion flowers either Jacque. Far too exotic. We used to make daisy chains, put buttercups under the chin to see if we liked butter????, and have jars of water with rose petals in trying to make perfume, but it never worked.

Thanks Chris and Greenthumb, for sharing your memories too, I remember, (with my mom's help), braiding daisies into a crown to wear on our heads, we pretended to be princesses or pretended it was our wedding day. Man...,if I knew then what I know now....hahaha. These were the good ole days before reality set in....lol.

If only it it could be that easy, Irish...lol. Unfortunately once reality catches up with you, you have a terrible time trying to give it the slip ! I know, I've tried on many occasions....lol. Where's that darn Peter Pan when you need him anyway.... ! hehehe
