Looks like our magnolia is split in half.

Oh that's a shame Klahanie! Probabley the heaviness of the snow, do you think?

Oh no, thinking the same as Rose, the weight of the snow?
Looking very beautiful though..

Thank you Rose and Janey.Yes, the weight of the snow.
Some of the branches on rhododendrons are down to the ground too . I will wait to see the damage (if any) after the snow is gone. Looks like more can be coming.

Looks like heavy wet snow. Sorry about your branches.

Oh dear. Looks as though there is enough of the Magnolia to survive … hope so. This cold winter is going on too long for all of us - supposed to be the first day of Spring today!

Heavy wet snow is hard on tree branches. We have more snow in recent years than when we first moved in 20 years ago, Victoria used to have a flower count event in February and Japanese cherry trees were in bloom.
I stuck my "Accolade" in OH's shop and it is starting to bloom there:-)
Although its not freezing , its very unpleasant outside.
I should stop whining as it could be worse.

Do you have a cold weather at this moment as well Sheila?
Seems to me that your vegetation is further ahead than ours.

Yes Klahanie, it’s exceptionally cold here still, and snow forecast for next week! I’m having to be patient and not start sowing seeds just yet 🙂.

I will start few seeds next week Sheila. On the side table in the living room :-) Lucky that Andy does not mind. Eventually I will move them in the greenhouse.

Klahanie, are you still having snow this week, it looks beautiful, but looking out from indoors!

Kate, yes, still some snow on the ground. It has to be colder up higher where the snow is forming because it is not freezing.
Although, was raining yesterday so some snow is gone (not completely) and my Japanese cherry tree is close to full bloom. Beautiful.Snow is OK as far as it is not freezing.
OH lifted and clamped that branch (in the picture) so we will see if it recovers. Lots of buds on it.
