Pinus strobus 'Doogle'

Pinus strobus 'Doogle'

A seedling found in a batch of undertocks selected by me for its very dwarf compact habit with all needles hanging down, still early days but shows good potential.

where I live the pinus strobus grew to terrific heights and some of the stumps left after the harvest of our old growth forests in the 18 hundreds..are still around today.. barely hummocks but the tree's trunks must have been at least 4 to 6 ft in diameter when they were cut by men weilding double handled cross cut saws...The Lumber Barons of that time became exceedingly rich from the harvest of old growth Canadian timber... the softwood was taken last...the beeches and maples and oaks went first... so this is the dwarf progeny of our giants?? Long may it live!
