They started with 16 young ones and now there are only 3.
Large young ones mortality rate.
There were always 2 male leaders no female.

Aw, poor little things. It's so sad to hear of such a loss in numbers. I do hope the injured adult will be ok. You just want to protect the vulnerable ones...

Lovely to see. Yes, there are always predators about. A duck in our park by the river had nine ducklings and within days she only had two left. She is very protective of them and fights any other birds that get close.
