I fully expected to find the pot of this blown over today after a big thunderstorm last night. So pleased it stayed upright.

A beautiful climbing plant, Shirley! š I'd love to grow them on the balcony! The only time I've ever seen them growing was at the Cambridge Botanical gardens years ago! I must look out for some seeds for next year!

David, you may recall that I saved seed from this some years ago, sent some to yourself and another GoY member but none of us had luck germinating them.
The pot they are in did blow over a couple of days ago, lost all the grit topping but otherwise the plants stayed in place and are still looking pretty.

Yes, & it is a shame they didn't germinate! Glad to know your plants weren't damaged!
Can't say the same for the plants on the balcony! There was a great deal of damage, nothing really fatal, but the storm put an end to any hopes it would continue into October! š„

I've removed almost all the plants from the rings on the balcony railings & replaced them with Cyclamen.

I bought my seeds last year from that shop that recently went into administration. They have been flowering all summer despite some very hot days and also very cold and wet days this summer. Before our last of these stores closed I bought seed for next year, at a very good price too, so looking forward to more of the same next year.

David, that sounds a good plan. I hope to buy some Cyclamen soon for my pots at the front door.

Thorneyside, well done on growing them from seed. I keep saying I'm not going to sow any more flower seeds ... funny how there are packs of them waiting in the greenhouse ... :o))

Gorgeous, I remember you posting this last year. It was the first time Iād seen it or heard of it. Such a lovely addition to any garden.

Thanks Kate, I have moved the pot to the back of the garden and can just about see those bright flowers from the kitchen window!

Julia, I came across these some years ago on a seed stand at a GC and have grown them both in the ground and a flower border. No particular care given to them, they twined themselves around the obelisk and needed no tying in. Slugs and snails left them alone, a huge bonus!
I can say they did not grow from saved seeds. I know this after sending out seed to some GoY folk, none of us had success with germinating them!
I will try to re-post a photo from October 2022 for you.
