Pandanus tectorius Screw Pine

Pandanus tectorius Screw Pine (Pandanus tectorius (Pandanus))

This screw pine is pushing 30 ft now. I remember when it was very small back in 2008. Photo taken Oct. 1, 2023.

They are fast growers and why I'm trying to tame mine in a pot the closely related P.utilis.
Not sure if I want to keep it..sharp and not all that happy in a pot in winter.
Andy, as the years ago by I'm finding that many things I planted get larger than I thought they would in my climate.

I couldn’t believe how large this tree has gotten.

Stan, when you give plants tlc and what they want as far as fertilizer, even plants that “are not supposed to grow in a specific climate” can grow very large. That’s been my experience, anyway.

It’s funny how many people are so extremely negative on some tropical fruit websites. These people make definitive statements about plants, tropical fruit trees (like they’ve been to every garden in California). I feel like commenting: Well, you have to tell all the plants I’ve seen growing here for years that’s “not supposed to be growing here!”
