Walking in Town today 2.

Walking in Town today 2.

Castle Hill Park. They have yet to find any evidence of an actual castle in Shaftesbury. But I believe there must have been a fortress of some sort. At some point in history.

Karen, that looks a lovely place for a walk. I found this information for you:

Castle Hill was once part of Shaftesbury Abbey and gets its name from a Saxon fort that is a Scheduled Monument present on the site.

Every day's a school day!

The church you see in the background was once the church where the townspeople would have worshipped in the abbey. Sadly it is now offices. The huge Abbey itself was only for the Nunns.
