Howea fosteriana - Kentia Palm Ripe Seed

Well, my Kentia palm seeds are finally ripening after four years! It takes generally a long 4 to 6 years for seed to ripen. This is the first time its set seed and it was planted in 2005 as a 2 ft tree. It’s now about 18 ft tall. Photo taken November 14, 2023.

I’ve put some directly into the ground. If they pop up I’ll dig them out.

Wow! You must be very happy, Andy! Yes, pretty patient and pleased with your results. Looks a really worthwhile wait. Love those big colourful seeds.

I planted the tree for the beautiful elegance of this palm. The seeds are an added bonus. 😎
