My Sweetheart litchi is putting out another flush of growth. Virtually all my tropical plants are all putting out new growth right now. Hopefully, it’ll grow flower buds around Christmas time like last year and develop fruit! Photo taken November 15, 2023.

Lychee trees have been grown in San Diego since around 1900. There’s old trees here. However, with this being said it’s a very temperamental tree as far as fruiting (I’ve read even in South Florida it’s the same).
Is your garden like mush due to a lot of rain?

Yes! Saturated soil covered in fallen leaves. Not very attractive...

Wow! It sounds pretty messy. Send some rain here. Lol
We had a few little showers a couple days ago, however it’s been sunny, warm to hot and extremely dry (which is typical for this time of year here).

Nice to see your little tree, Andy! Hope you manage to get fruit from it next year!
If only ... we could swap some of your warmth & sunshine for some of our rain! Even in this neck of the woods we have had more rain than we are accustomed to! It's to do with climate change & how warmer air can hold more water vapour & as the planet warms up so there will be more & more water vapour in the air - hence more floods & more heavy rainfalls! Though for you it will likely be just the opposite with more warmth comes drier air & therefore less rain.

Yes, my little lychee tree is over 5 1/2 ft tall and has a 6 ft spread now. It was a very skinny 2 1/2 ft air-layered stick two years ago.
There’s a strong El Niño brewing in the Pacific Ocean. This usually means a lot of rain for all of California. We’ll see what happens.

Let's hope you get a share of it! 👍 It's been more or less wet here for the last night & the majority of the day so far. (14.30) I say "wet" & not raining because it has been more like a light drizzle all the time interspersed with the odd slightly heavy drizzle!

It’s starting out much drier than normal here. I do hope we get some good rains this year, again!

Well, here the first frosts of the autumn have just begun this week. That's something you don't have to worry about! 😆

It’s been very warm lately, in the 80’s…But, today was pretty cold, only 68 degrees.
Yes, all urban areas of San Diego are frost free and are in USDA Hardiness zone 11.

It's interesting to see plants which don't feature in English gardens. And to see how well they grow for you. My garden is so much wet mush at the moment!
