Impatients niamniamensis - Congo Impatients

I couldn't get it to survive winter about 20 years ago. I did see and hear that it survived in a yard in Alameda of a grower who sold them and orchids.

Really? I had this red one and the orange variety growing very well outside in the SF Bay Area, for years.
