My OH have chosen this puzzle for me.as he is aware about my interests in arts.
"The Girl With a Pearl Earring"
by Johannes Vermeer(1670)
Regardless to many speculations the subject of the painting is unknown.

I know I will have lots of difficulties with the dark background as these puzzle pieces are fairly small.
It will keep me busy for some time.

A beautiful painting puzzle Klahanie. There are always parts of a puzzle, especially the plain backgrounds that take a lot of time and thought to do. Gerry sits at the table for ages doing those bits. I help sort out the different shapes and colours for him. Have fun.....x

That's one of my favourite paintings, so evocative. I saw an exhibition of Vermeers in London many years ago and was surprised at how small the canvases were. At the same time they displayed a 'Goldfinch' by Carel Fabritius. I don't know why, they moved me very much. Anyway, enjoy your puzzle, Klahanie. Perhaps it can be framed when you have finished it.
PS. Have you read "Girl with a Pearl Earring" by Tracy Chevalier?

I bet you'll enjoy this very much Klahanie. Such a young girl. I remember seeing the film a few years ago, The colours and cinematography were beautiful, and of the period..

As Janey says, the film was very good … maybe you’ve seen it Klahanie? I was lucky to see a local streaming of a film made of the recent Vermeer exhibition in Amsterdam, where tickets were sold out, so very crowded. It was amazing to listen to various experts talking about each painting and the apparent lack of brushstrokes!

Ange, have you read the book The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt? It’s pretty good 🙂.

Beautiful jigsaw puzzle, Klahanie! Your OH has chosen very well too.

No, I haven't, Sheila (excuse me, Klahanie!). I recently read 'The Words in my Hand' by Guinevere Glasfurd which was obviously inspired by Chevalier's novel.

I did get quite far in The Goldfinch Sheila, but no not for me.

Fair enough Janey. It did go astray in the middle, but then got better again. I remember enjoying the relationship between the boy and the furniture restorer.
Sorry Klahanie about this break in your thread - my fault. I should probably have sent a PM.

Yes, wouldn’t that be wonderful Klahanie. Nothing quite like a good conversation!

Yes, there will be tricky parts, but what a beautiful subject. The only jigsaw puzzle we have was bought by my OH because I love Vermeer - it’s View of Delft - lovely but challenging! Have fun. x
