After

After

I had the Leylandii taken out (roots and all) and I’ll be replacing it with a mixed native hedge to encourage wildlife. I’ll be planting trees too, Rowan, Silver Birch and berrying shrubs such as Viburnum opulus (Guelder Rose), V. lantana (Wayfaring Tree) and native Lonicera periclymenum (Honeysuckle). The birdfeeders are up, the birdbath filled and when the wind drops the birdboxes will be going up too.
Beyond the bottom of the garden is an Infants School field (I quite like the sound of the children playing) and a long stones-throw to the right is RSPB Marshside Nature Reserve - one of the selling points!

What a super place to call home Muddy, the garden looks so much bigger now the conifers are gone.

Thanks 😊. I couldn’t believe how much more light came into the garden after they’d gone. The only minus is I now get the occasional football coming over the fence from the school!

Looking forward to seeing photos when the trees have established.

Ah, I see you have started the transformation already! I love the choice of trees you are going to plant, the school grounds behind and the RSPB site nearby sounds the perfect location for you ... here's to many happy days ahead!
