Traveller’s Palm (Center) - Ravenala magadascariensis

The traveler’s palm is shaded by a Toog tree (Bischofia javanica) and next to a Bismarck palm. Photo taken on a beautiful January 11th day in 2024.

It’s a very attractive tree. But, it’s not a real Palm tree. It’s related to giant bird of paradise, Heliconia and bananas.

It might survive here or not. I'm pretty sure it won't look very good though but for the last warmest months of the summer.
I would trial it if I had a spot. Right now,it's more what can I remove?

When small they’re tender, after they’re more than 3 ft tall they’re tough as nails. I had one in Fremont, it grew pretty well. I see many growing here. It’s pretty slow growing. I hear even in Florida it grows slowly.
