Bold Eagle/Haliaeetus leucocephalus)

Bold Eagle/Haliaeetus leucocephalus)

Sitting on top of our Douglas fir ( Pseudotsuga menziesii )
One of nature's largest raptors, with wings that can span eight feet.
They are protected but there seems to be a healthy population around here. They are gliding around without "flapping" their wings for hours. Amazing to watch.
Symbolize freedom, wisdom strength, and courage for our indigenous people.

National emblem of the United States

I love the birds of prey. You've taken a lovely photo of the Eagle. Years ago I was at a show and the bird people wanted someone to go into the ring and help fly a Buzzard. I wore a gauntlet and it was amazing to see the Buzzard so close. His eyes were like amber jewels, and when he flew towards me his wingspan was massive.
