Thanks Rose, it's easy for us to keep tidy with a bit of colour from the flowers and shrubs. We can grow a few veggies on one half and a few tomatoes in the greenhouse.
The Orchid has flowered four times in a year. After flowering we cut the stem down to the next niche in the stem. Also immerse it when it gets dry in a jug of rainwater, which we add some orchid feed to now and again. We then let it drain the water off for a while. In the winter it likes part sun part shade with lots of light on the kitchen window. In the summer it's in the warmth of the conservatory in the shade with some sunshine. Two years ago we repotted it in a larger pot in special bark compost.
