A Little Potted Plum/Gage from Tesco £14

I tried to grow a Cambridge Gage in Scotland and it grew really well but it didn’t fruit. I had 2 Gages off it in about 6 years! But they were so sweet! Who’d have thought that such a tiny bright green fruit would taste so divine! So I’m going to give this one a go in the milder climate of Dorset. It was an impulse buy at the supermarket today, but it was always my intention to have lots of productive plants in pots. I have a cherry and an Almond and now this. I want to have an apple as well. The apple trees in Tescos didn’t look great.

Thank you both. It’s worth a try at this price I think. They can take a few years to start fruiting, so patience is required!

Lovely purchase, Karen. The supermarkets are often great places to pick up some fab priced plants in good condition too. Hopefully it'll bear healthy fruit for you.

I hope it fruits well for you. Are there other plum trees nearby?

We used to have a greengage tree in our hedge when we first were married Karen. I think it liked the shelter of the hedge which was hawthorn. Lovely to see the blossoms then the lovely fruits later..:)

Thanks Janey. I shall give it the best shelter I can find at this top of a hill (again!) windy site!
