Amelanchier alnifolia ‘Obelisk’

This is a shrub/small tree I had in Scotland. It is native to Canada, so very tough. It tolerates shade well and in the autumn it is truly spectacular. And it’s very beautiful right now too. This one doesn’t have the bronzy young foliage but it flowers profusely and very early. Edible berries just the same as with all the June/Service Berries. Hopefully it will help to bring the birds from the woodland into the garden.

Karen, I have had to remove an Eleagnus that was dying and was wondering about filling the space with an Amelanchier like this. I need to have a shrub/small tree with an upright habit and this would seem a good candidate.
