This is one of several planted in the parking lot where I go grocery shopping. This is a smaller compact shrubby form of bougainvillea. The bird of paradise to the right is done flowering. Photo taken April 24, 2024.

I love to see Bougainvillea, this is a lovely colour. I like the mauve coloured one also.

Shirley tulip,
Yes, tons of Bird-of-paradise here in Southern California. I have a 50 year old big one in my front yard. It just stopped blooming a few weeks ago.

Kate123,
There’s so many varieties of Bougainvillea which grow everywhere here. I’ve had Orange King Bougainvillea in a pot for 36 years. I’ve purposely kept my plant in a pot to keep it small, as most bougainvillea can grow extremely fast and take over.

Yes, it huge! It’s 6 ft tall and 10 ft wide. I keep cutting it back. I’ve taken 200 leaves off over the last 6 months. I need to cut more leaves off.

So very pretty. My daughter was in Los Angeles a week ago and sent me photos of Bird of Paradise in bloom, fabulous flowers.
