It is indeed set in Glasgow and a riddy translates as a blushing face from embarrassment. That's only one of a few words I have needed to look up!

Ah yes….Black affronted is our way of saying deeply ashamed or embarrassed. It means you went so deeply red you actually went black! Not in an ethnic way…just very dark red! lol!
