At a local park yesterday, they were absolutely beautiful.
I'm afraid I still can't access my news on here, so not able to see your photos or comment on them. Hopefully things will be rectified soon.
Hope you're all ok and enjoying your gardens. xx

Thanks Klahanie, they've been really lovely this year. I know, the sites just not working as it should.

They are so pretty ... I wish we had more wild flower areas around here. The grass verges around the village are over 2 foot tall now ... not attractive at all.

It does depend where they're planted doesn't it Shirley. These were a large circle with the centre mown out. A mum and toddler were enjoying them, the flowers were taller than he was!

Just beautiful Janey!

Janey, yesterday the grass verges were mown. Well, they were hacked down more than mown, all the shreddings/cuttings left on the roadside ready to block the drains ... :o(

Well that's not good is it Shirley. What are they thinking of? Honestly, something bad coming out of something good.. :((

Ah, I haven't explained that very well as I meant that the grass verges, not the wildflower planting areas, were mown by the Council. They have not been mown for months so it was mainly grass and weeds and was looking more like a field of wheat!

Shirley, around here the council gardeners are leaving some areas that used to mow unmown - for the 2nd year in a row! They say it is to encourage wild life & is good for the environment!
Last year they stopped using chemical sprays to keep the weed population under control around the streets of town & this year they don't seem to be using it much either. Lots of people complained & they said they would look at perhaps restoring the chemical control. They said they had hoped people would take it into their own hands to do the weed clearing from their streets - nobody has!

I guess most folk think they pay their Council taxes for the work to be done ... not have to do it themselves! I know for sure that folk in West Sussex feel that way!

I think you are very right, Shirley!

Exactly Shirley. Some roads here have been sprayed by householders. We certainly pay enough CT to expect the council to take care of it. The council also provided a new fangled road sweeper every Wednesday morning. I've not heard it this year at all. And by the looks of the paths it's definitely not been round!

The council here has done a "U-turn" & have begun spaying the weeds again in many of the villages around Huntingdonshire. But they don't seem to have reached Huntingdon itself - just yet! At least I haven't seen any evidence of it if they have started!

Things have to be kept tidy don't they Balc? It's getting the balance right. Let's hope they reach Huntingdon within the next week or two.
