Fuchsia 'Garden News' on balcony 3rd August 2023

Thanks, Kate! It should flower, even if later. All mine started from apparently lifeless "sticks" but have grown are have only started flowering since July. I would have expected end of June or beginning of July but the cold spring & start to summer made them late.
If your plants are green they should start to grow & flower before the end of summer & the beginning of autumn.
Some of my plants were grown from overwintered cuttings & others were in pots on the balcony, in a corner of the balcony & left dry all winter, except the standard of Garden News as that was put on the balcony table, in the most protected corner of the balcony & put inside a big plastic bag. It, too, was kept pretty dry over the winter & survived.

Garden News! We had 2 standards for years Balc, it's a real beauty with whopping flowers..

You are right, Janey, the flowers are quite big!
I started this standard last year but several of the branches were broken before they could "cement" themselves in place. So this year they have more or less reformed but it's lower than my original intention, which was 1m (3ft) of clear stem before the branches making up the head were allowed to grow. Still a little lower doesn't make a great deal of difference!
I made some 'Beacon' fuchsia standards many years ago & they survived & flowered on the balcony for several years before they were killed during that terrible winter of 2009-10! This is the first time I've done another one since then!
