Lichen on tree trunk

David, it certainly is! I'm cross with myself as I deleted, in error, the photo of the foliage of this tree. All I remember is that the undersides of the leaves were a silvery white, so not much help really!

I agree with you Kate and was surprised to find it quite soft to touch ... Michael said I shouldn't have done that ... he must have thought it was poisonous!!

It does feel soft to the touch, I touched it in Spain quite a few times.

Is it really naturally growing on that tree trunk? It's not often you see a tree with so much lichen on it!
