Amelanchier in its autumn colours

They are lovely. I have ‘Obelisk’ which didn’t colour up much and shed its leaves very early. Then I have ‘Rainbow Pillar’ which is still entirely green and seems to think it’s still summer!

Are these varieties of Amelanchier Karen? I'd never heard of another except for 'lanarkii'.

Yes! They are Amalanchia alnifolia (Saskatoon serviceberry) and Amelanchier canadensis Sheila. Both are quite different to A. Lamarkii, have a look on line. They don’t have a loose habit, they are more upright. And they don’t have bronze foliage in spring, but masses of flowers and berries later on. The foliage is much rounder too.
