Our first acer, a palmatum dissectum. We had it in a pot for the first few years. It's been in the ground for over a decade. More of an umbrella shape, with slow height growth.

Kate,when you described the shape...it is so like Waterfall we have here...the same umbrella shape and orange/tangerine leaves.

Lovely Acer to have Kate. We have one the same and It's low growing and spreads across. I have to thin it out now and again. Lovely display of colour though.

I have (inherited) Acer palmatum dissectum 'Crimson Queen' which looks very similar to this .
