Thank you Julia. This is a back entrance to our lower level.
I do not use it. There is an entrance to OH shop on the right underneath the steps so he is using it all the time.
The acer is in the pot for lots of years now. The yellow foliage is of climbing hydrangea (Hydrangea anomala petiolaris) in autumn.
