I did have a go at growing some coleus quite a while ago now. I planted them in the garden and they were o.k. all summer. (When I had a very large garden in my last home before this one.)

I love the Xanthosoma. It's a striking looking plant and it's hardy as well as low-maintenance. My sort of plant!

Yes, several species are very tough plants. Xanthosoma sagittifolium is a very common plant here. It’ll grow in soil that’s like concrete. It won’t grow fast or big…but, if it receives water it’ll become a monster plant more than 10 ft (3.4 m) tall. The leaves are humongous, also.
