Bananas, Acalypha and Papayas

This back area of my backyard is very crowded with these many plants. The copperleaf plants will have to be cut back in Spring. Photo taken December 6, 2024.

Yes, they’re so colorful and grow easily. My favorite is A. ‘Jungle Dragon’ my plant was almost 20 ft (6 m) tall before I cut it back. The leaves are the bigest (16 in or 41 cm long) of any Acalypha I’ve seen growing in San Diego.

Looking great. I don't know what tropic gardeners would do without Acalyphas! They are the backbone of most gardens here.
