Have often thought of trying this on a smaller scale, with annuals, trailing plants, herbs etc.....May get round to doing it yet!

Hi, Lori! The containers are simply plastic bowl planters with drainage holes, stacked up in decreasing sizes. I have a magazine article on doing something similar for a herb tower, using terracotta pots, either round or square. If using square ones, you can increase the visual aspect (and grow bigger plants) by stacking the pots/containers as a series of "diamonds", i.e. corner to midline of a straight edge, and continue upward. I'll definitely be trying this out next year with annuals and herbs, as it would be possible to have a fab display in a small area!

No, you go for it, Lori! I won't be attempting something like this until next summer. There must be a winter planting scheme which would suit this style and look really great as an outdoor, "decorated "christmas tree, but done wholly in plants? it would probably cost a small fortune to create, though.Hmmm...but, now, I'm thinking........a "tree" of herbs associated with winter festivals/meals? Are any of them evergreen?

Only one comes to mind off the top of my head is Winter Savory!
