He probably climbed up there to enjoy the view. From his point of view, surveying the "lunch" menu.

Do you suppose he climbed there Helen? or did someone like a bird or a hedgehog leave him there? I suppose if that were the case, though, the shell would be empty...? Good size for a snail!
