Lovely - I do feel tempted to try to grow these, but as Amy said, they do need a lot of space.

They are very easy to root from cuttings so no one has to go without if you really like them. They send up alot of shoots at ground level during the season, everytime I cut off an unwanted shoot that comes up ,I pot it up in the shade and keep it wet, I prefer using clay soil because you don't have to water it as much as potting soil. It will look very limp, but keep it watered and out of the sunlight and in 2 weeks it will be standing up straight and proud for you. Then you can bring these rooted cuttings in the house for the winter, or you can root a limb late in the season. I have kept them in a plain glass of water all winter long, no dirt, and then planted them in a pot of clay soil outside in the shade and they will produce soil roots for you. Keep in mind, the larger the cutting the faster you will get blooms the next year. They have to form a 'Y' in the branching before they will bloom, so if you can take a cutting with one already present the faster it will bloom for you. Hope this helps and encourages you to try them. But I always have to tell everyone who grows them, please wash your hands well after handling them, all parts are poisonous.

You had inspired me to give them a try
until your last comment. Are they compatible in the garden with pets?

They are poisonous to dogs. If you have a young pet with the habit of chewing on plants and leaves I wouldn't recommend it. Leaves will occassionally yellow and drop . I just keep them pulled off as soon as they start to turn, and don't allow them to drop naturally.

Pity,
Jasper's senses are failing fast, I couldn't risk it.

I know how you feel, pets certainly come first ! luckily my cat has no interest in nibbling on plants.

Stunning plant Flcrazy, I used to have the single white version at our old home,
I had it planted in a tub and pruned it every Autumn, then brought it in for the Winter, it made a super little tree in the summer months, and the scent, well as you know, it's indescribably gorgeous!!
