That's more color than I'll ever see in my area. The heat gets to most things so I have to be happy with going for texture and variety of green. Don't get me wrong. It can be accomplished but right now my trees are so young I don't have many shady areas to protect flowers from the extreme heat. We have a lot of flowering bushes which is where I concentrate my efforts. (But I do love the flowers)

Thanks for the lovely comments - I've made some mistakes in the planting, though. :-( There's a Miscanthus sinensis 'Flamingo' in front of the Heleniums to the right, and it hasn't grown or flowered at all. Yet it's meant to flourish in sun or part shade. I also planted two Kniphofias - same problem. I guess, just not enough light due to tall plants. Ah, well, a bit of shuffling is called for!

Hellooo! is that just around the summerhouse from the corner you were rejeuvenating this spring? Border looks amazing! I had a canna tropicanna gold that is delayed for the same reason...too many other tall plants shaded it out...it's just coming into blossom now and we are expecting a frost any night now... I think I'll try to find a big pot to bring it inside, so it can finish it's bloom cycle...then I'll keep one as a houseplant and store the roots of the other for next season. I found that grasses sometimes come better the second season...(the perennial ones at least) and had plans to buy Kniphofias for planting next spring...so will take that as a word to the wise...plant them full sun central...lol.

Lori - how lovely that you remembered my 'boring corner'! Yes, you are tight. It's the other side of the summer house on the far left. From what you've said, maybe there's still hope for the Miscanthus, even though it'll be next year now! :-) Thanks!

Thanks, Amy! It was, though. At the other side of the summer house is an area which goes to the back end of the wide border. It has stepping stones up to a Pittosporum tree. All that was in there was lots and lots of Ivy and three overgrown shrubs. Now it's much more interesting. I did a blog on it if you are interested - there are two, about what's at the end of the brick path and what's nearly there. Can't remember what I called them - I'll just check. Got them... 8th August - 'What's near the end of the path' shows what I did in that area. I still want to find a piece of wood with an interesting shape to put in amongst the ferns!
