I have a japanese maple also but our winters are too mild in order to get this kind of brilliant color on it. The leaves on mine just turn a burgundy and fall off. I was hoping for the brightness you have captured in this photo.

They are so bright, they look like they are on fire !

The colour only lasts a couple of days before fading so it was a real bonus that the sun came out to highlight the leaves

Perfect depth of field....and the contrast is SHARP! wonderful pic of a beautifully coloured specimen. great photography and a well picked subject!
