This is just south of Blakeney Norfolk, Lori, I can't remember the name it wasn't Cley next the sea, but a tiny hamet on the way to Sheringham.

given where I was born and raised; this may sound silly, but I would love to live in a windmill!!

Would you really??....you'd feel like you were going round in circles!:o).....sorry....if you want to look inside one, log on to Cley Windmill, Cley next the Sea, Norfolk, England.........this one is a restaurant and bed and breakfast it's great inside. I had a look to see where Pollyannaever lives on Google Earth, and the area is covered in Windmills, tulip and daffodil fields...beautiful. As it's getting close to Vancouver, were there dutch settlers there?

Thanks, Janey, I will take a look. As to Vancouver, Washington...I'm not sure about settlements but N.A. has it hubs of culture...Here in Ontario there is a huge reclaimed marsh area north or Toronto, called the Holland Marsh...wonderful produce but no windmills...wonder why? Will have to google earth Pollyannaever, too!!

Maybe it's marshy, Lori but not windy, I thought Vancouver sounded Dutch with the Van bit!lol

Very logical assumption, Janey. No, it was named for Captain George Vancouver...an Englishman. Capt. James Cooke also explored the Pacific North West. Both men held the rank of Captain in the Royal Navy. The Climate is the best thing about B.C., Janey. I loved it when I was out there. it's a few thousand miles from where I was born and raised...but made the trip in my callow youth...spent a year in a little town called Langley, on the Fraser River in the Lower Mainland. Vancouver Island is an amazing place...

Ooh, it sounds fantastic Lori, I would love to see Vancouver Island, a few thousand miles away from you, ........gosh......I forget America's such a vast place. I love this site for all this interesting info, I spend ages on Google Earth
checking out different places and photos of that region.

That's a great way to check out plant origins too... gives you some idea of the climate in which they evolved... as a "for instance" I saw a pic of echium pininana and really liked the plants ...so I googled them and then I googled the Canary Islands... that was an interesting bit...I learned a lot about an interesting area of the earth and an interesting unique plant! Try googling Muskoka District, Ontario, Canada. That's the area where I was born and raised...it's absolutely beautiful there..('course I'm a little partial...lol.)
