Flamingos at San Diego Zoo, CA

Yes, I only live about 5 miles from the San Diego Zoo. I belong to the Zoological Society, which means I can go to the zoo anytime it's open.

San Diego Zoo is not only a zoo, it's a World-Class Botanical Garden. The plants are insured more than the animals--believe it or not. (I know it sounds strange)

One other note about S.D. Zoo: it has the second largest Cycad collection in North America. I think Fairchild Tropical Botanical Garden in South Florida has the largest collection.
