With further reference to your mention of Pinus parviflora "Eilidh", I googled and googled but could not find it for retail anywhere! I also tried searching "John Proudfoot" and found several references to a John Proudfoot and forestry research, and also several Eilidhs in the same line of work here in Scotland. Perhaps the dwarf Pinus parviflora was named after one of them? I will probably never be able to obtain an actual plant, but wondered if you could upload a pic, please, please? At least I can now distinguish a parviflora from other conifers at first sight, and your pics have made me (like many others, I suspect) take a sharp intake of breath and view conifer and heather beds in a whole new light. Thank You!

Hi David,
Sorry for my late response, I have just uploaded a photo of Pinus parviflora 'Eilidh' on my photos page, the plant in the picture is only about 3-4 years old, so will not really tell you much. John Proudfoot is a retired policeman and he lives in Methven, Perthshire, he named most of his plants after people he knew. These particular conifers, as do most of the really good ones, unfortunately only circulate around in private collections,
