Markhamia zanzibarica - Maroon Bell-Bean

This is a rare Markhamia that has maroon colored flowers with yellow veins in clusters growing out of the trunk and branches of the tree. It is another Tropical African Tree...which is extremely tender to cold. Even where I live I have seen the leaves fall off in winter due to cool weather...and I rarely ever get temperatures below 43 degrees F. (6 degrees C.)

Sorry, the leaves are smaller and oval to the left in this picture. The tree to the right is Ficus cyathistipula native to The Ivory Coast of Africa.
