Sinks

Any good tips for these stone sinks.. they look good with alpines but it's so boring... My son works at a garden centre and all they do is plant up alpines in them.

I have to admit mine is planted up with alpines and a couple of tiny dwarf plants although I have added some dwarf bulbs to mine which makes them really enchanting to look at in spring.

You can always plant them seasonally.Winter flowering Pansys, little evergreen plants and trailing ivy, spring bulbs then replant after spring with summer bedding plants or if that's not your cup of tea remove everything out of them and make it a mini bog garden. The world is your oyster! Hel.xxx.

Ooh like the idea of coloured rocks. However, couldn't possibly paint them.. they were a present from my dad ... he's had them for over 40 years.. he'd have a hissy fit! I am going to make them different for next summer come what may... I did look at some dwarf hostas that looked well cool but they were expensive... 8 or 9 pounds each!!

I've seen several around here planted with dwarf conifers, and mixed with moss and small leafed ivy.

I've found hostas pretty cheap at big department stores.Their just the corns but do very well the first year. I paid 5.00 dollars for 4 plants.I don't know what that would be in pounds but i do know they reproduce like crazy and in a couple years you can seperate them and have more plants. I just love bargains too. Your pots are very intresting. I made some like them out of sphagnum moss, perlite and portland cement but don't know how they'll hold up. Guess we'll wait for spring and see
