I will have to check with the booklet we bought when we visited Hill Top to see if this Cloche and the other gardening items were the actual ones Beatrix used.
After her marriage to William Heelis,Beatrix moved to Castle Cottage but kept Hill Top as it was when she lived there so that she could show American Visitors round to see where she used to live.
Apparently, she left a lot of her drawings at Hill Top especially for the visitors to see.
It was nice going round the inside of the farm but it was very dark in there because the National Trust are trying to preserve the artifacts from decay so a lot of the items on display were very hard to see.
Beatrix wouldn't allow Electricity to be put into the house while she was alive, though there is some now.

Potter also had connections with a place near us, at Birnam by Dunkeld, Perthshire. There is a Beatrix Potter garden there, too. Thanks for the reminder, we must take the kids there.

Hi David, yes you are correct,Beatrix used to stay there with her family when she was growing up and was one of the places where she would spend time doing her early drawings. Her father then decide to spend their holidays at Sawrey which is where she set up home after coming into the money after the sale of her books.
I wish I was into Beatrix when we stayed up at Loch Tay because it would have been nice to have visited her that garden there

I visited Hill Top Farm many years ago - very understated but magical place.
