Good angle on this.
Were you swimming with the frogs when you took the picture?
It's one of those photos where the more you look at it, the more you like it.:o)

.I would be out there with a net trying to find some of the wild life. I love wild ponds and this one is very tempting.

Hi, the water lilies have done well and they look lovely in the summer, we have white, yellow, pink and red - they were out of my mum's fish pond - I suppose they've done well because the pond if clay lined so they can spread easily. The fish like to go under them and the moor hens sit on them! I love the wildlife and feel really privileged when they use the pond. Not everything is nice though - the heron is scarey, I walked up one day and there were 4 herons on the pond, it was like jurrasic park when they took off. I have some quite big mirror carp in there and they seem to survive the heron I suppose because they are big - there are lots of minnows too, I have an island in the middle so that when the mallards have their young the fox cant get them. We usually have a pair nest and they have about 12 chicks at a time but sadly as the days pass they usually end up with 2 or 3 - I believe crows come down and get them etc. poor things. I've seen a grass snake swim over and 2 swans came once when the trees were smaller but didnt stay long. Dragon flies are everywhere but my special visitor if the kingfisher - I catch him out of the corner of my eye as he flies over.

It is quite big (about 50 metes wide) but not very deep but the wildlife love it and we enjoy watching them enjoying it.

Wonder if I can convince the missus to let me submerge the whole back garden, it would be a lot less work lol!

No worries - hadnt even noticed. Your ponds sound great and must keep you very busy. We dont have fish in ours now - just little minnows, its spring fed and we have an overflow ditch that takes surplus water to the brook - only problem is that it gets over run with bullrushes and reeds.

Busy is not a word that describes my attitude to gardening and ponds , yes we work hard putting things in initially but then we want them to run themselves pretty much, the ponds require minimal maintainance and are there mostly for the wildlife to use a quick dredge evry couple of years and theyre done, we do have to weed the veg beds 2-3 times a year but mostly theyre so full weeds dont stand a chance and theyre all covered with black plastic through the winter so nowt grows thats not wanted.
The lawn is the most labour intensive bit and as its a pretty naff one which the dog uses (at the min), it only gets cut when it really needs it. the front just goes wild and has a tidy up 2-3 times a year mostly deadheading and clearing the little paths a bit.
I'm all fo the easy life if I can get it ,lol
