Hi Angie, I agree with you, looking the pictures of other GOY members it leads me to think it is a Tree Fern. Googling it I found out that in Europe it is a different genera, maybe some Botany expertise would be able to tell the differences.
What i found out about xaxims is: Division- Pteridophyta, Class - Pteridopsida, Order - Cyatheales; Family - Dicksoniaceae, Genera - Dicksonia, Species - Dicksonia sellowiana

Youre right Flcrazy.....as far as i know it grows around 1 to 2 inches/year.

A study performed by Santa Catarina university in an 1,8 hectare area of natural tropical forest, where were analised 1.119 plants above 1.29m high, during 2 years revealed a 69.8% of plants growing around 5 inches in height and one inch in diameter.
The on in the pictures was about three times my height, I'm 1,78m tall.
