Butia capitata - Jelly Palm (Butia capitata - Jelly Palm)

Jelly Palm with Ficus microcarpa (retusa, nitida) - Indian Laurel growing in the old leaf bases. This is a common sight with some palm with large leaf bases.

I looked this one up on the internet.
Apparently in the deep south, jelly is made from the fruit. :o)

Terratoonie,

These trees are very common in California, grown everywhere even to the foothills of the Sierra Mountain Range. It is such a hardy palm. I assume it can be grown in many parts of England.

The fruits are make into jelly or eaten raw...it taste like a soft pineapple.
