David & I grew something like this as a house plant..we had trouble with it getting spider mites and it finally was lost but we did love it.

No these are not on a large plant Terratoonie, they're actually growing from the ground, yes Catfinch it makes a beautiful houseplant but you got to look after it well from those insects. I wonder if it could grow in your garden in summer Michaella? Maybe possible :-)

Catfinch,
You are correct this is African Mask Plant - Alocasia sanderiana...I have attempted to grow this plant outside...it doesn't do as well as I wanted.
I have seen some growing outside though in very protected spots. This plant is ultra-tropical and will not tolerate any cold at ALL! If temperatures go below 50 degrees F. (10 degrees C.) even for a short time...it looks pretty sad. (more like dead) LOL.

It does look pretty sad, I am sure the heat is getting on to the poor plant!! I Thanks Catfinch and Delonix1 for sharing the correct name, all have a lovely day.

Panther, common names change according to individual parts of the World...the botanical name is always the same.
Your plant looks very healthy and beautiful...I think it likes where you have it planted.
