Hi... I keep them on the damp side when in flower. This one is in my diningroom in a north window. As soon as it warms up it goes out on my front enclosed porch and I leave it out there until the temps get near freezing.

Now I know why mine doesn't flower for very long - it's too warm!

BTW - I think this is yet another plant that has changed its name. I think we are meant to call them Epiphyllums now. Have I got that right?

probably right, Spritzhenry...but I'm still calling Rodgersia...Rodgersia...instead of .... what is it now??? need to take some time to sharpen the saw...my recall just isn't what it was... I have ephiphyllums too... so I continued to call the schlumbergera ...schlumbergera for ease of identification.

Hi Spritz... When they set buds keep them in a cool place. The flowers will last longer. Often the buds will drop off if it's too warm in the room you have them in.

That was only a piece of pretty useless info - my friend grows them/propagates them - all very exotic, too! I looked totally blank at her when she talked about her 'Epis'...I thought she meant Epimediums. Oooops!

I still think of them as Schlumbergeras as well. Like 'Montbretias' - can't get used to 'Crocosmias'. LOL. My age is showing!
