This blue form of Cape Plumbago is grown extensively throughout California...many, many plants growing along the freeways. Pic taken today.

These plant are ever blooming here also. They are extremely widely grown along the sides of the freeways here and medians and in open areas where nothing else grows.

Terratoonie,
There are many varieties: light blue, dark blue, almost purple, and white.
There's also a red species which grows here which isn't as common, it very, very tropical.

i used to have one of these in my garden wherever I was - don't have one in this garden and now your photo has reminded me how lovely they are so I think I'll have to get one again.
