Hepatica

I love hepaticas. I once saw one I have never forgotten. It was in a specialist garden place, and it was in a small pot (there was only one plant!). It was robin's egg blue and double! I told the proprietor that I would take it, and he said, "No you won't"! :-( I was so crestfallen that he wanted to cheer me up, and so he went off and returned with the corms of Frittilaria Camchatkensis, a black variety of fritillary from Alaska. I felt much better after he allowed me to have those. (I never know if Fritillary has two t's or two l's.) Hepatica is called "Leberbluemchen" in German: Liverflower! As in hepatitis!

A lovely hepatica. I like them also.
Don't worry about not being able to buy the one from the specialist nursery, Lily, it would probably have cost you the better part of your weeks food bill.
