Hello Chris, the wildlife ponds take on a new beauty with the cold don't they, in contrast to summer. We've had moles in the past and had to deal with them, are your's a problem or can you live with the mess? Dawn

We have moles in the summer time. We've just lived with it so far but they seem to get worse every year.

I like this photo! Charming houses, nice big trees, a little pond... I hope the moles are tolerable. Do they get into any wintering bulbs in the beds? I've never had them, not sure if they just tunnel around or if they eat up bulbs and roots.

I've not been aware of them eating roots etc. I think their diet is worms, grubs, larvae etc. As long as the eat the cockchafer grubs I am tolerating them. Hubby gets cross when they make hills in the top area of our lawn. This is the wilder area and he doesn't mind down there. I sometimes gather the mole earth to mix with compost for sowing seedlings etc since our soil is sandy.

Not a much of a pest for you sounds. They're aireating soil for you and eating up the bugs. As long as they a stay in the natural area...lol. :-) I suppose I've never heard of them as too much of a pest except on lawn like golf greens. I could see that problem.

We have moles at the moment, they breed this time of year. Being in Norfolk the wonderful dark soil they kick out is great for plant pots!
