Cicada

These cicadas turn up in their thousands in the bush at the start of summer and sing all day long - can be quite deafening at times.

They look quite spectacular close up but they are just SO LOUD when they get together.

I haven't heard a whole bunch together Bernieh but one on its own can be loud enough. I can only imagine how deafening it would be.

That's incredible to see one in a photo! We can hear them at night in Summer...however, I never know where they are. Marguerite, yes they can be quite loud when doing their mating calls. LOL!

We get quite a few straying up on our verandah here and they are huge. We also get the little ones and together they all make one fantastic din!
