The Culprit

The Culprit

Our resident Mama has a new baby every year and kicks out the yearling, who then wanders the neighborhood getting into trouble. I have a nice clear spot to find fresh clematis to eat, he didn't touch the neighbors..../:-(

Oh dear....here it is the deer we must contend with...goodness...your poor clementis...after surviving the long cold nights! grrrrrrr.....do you think it will come back?

Poor little thing, being kicked out at only a year old! Please don't begrudge him the clematis - hopefully it will recover, perhaps in time for the next yearling! Everything has a purpose :)

Poor thing. Poor clematis. Its hard to have wildlife and gardens co-existing with some casualties. :o(

I feel for the little inexperienced beast. And it is inexperienced enough to have left everything below snow level. I just hope to have growth left to bloom on. It ate all of last years.

awww poor lil fella... maybe you could cultivate something he/she would eat next winter .. and leave alone your clematis :)

Well the sweet beast has also survived your long cold winter in the long nights thus far so maybe he can be excused for now...Do they bother your plants after the spring growth of areas GT? Or do they have plenty to eat in the wild then...

Oh, he'll be back. Especially if I grow veggies. Peas can draw him from miles away. :-) I've always planted coriander to mask the fresher smells. They don't like that. Most people have six foot fences for veggies. They only eat like goats in winter. All the fresh bush tips they can find and other munchies. Adults are much less trouble all together.

A lot of people eat moose and there is a lot of subsistance hunting for it. Season is past, mamma's are having babies right now.
