Hebe 'Heartbreaker'

That's lovely - how hardy is it? Some hebes are a bit on the tender side for my area.

Forget that Spritz, I've just looked on the Hebe Society site and it would be a no-go for here. Might try Goldrush in a tub.

What a shame! I have one from last year and it has come through the winter OK.

Hebes seem to do well in my back garden. This one is lovely - still have my garden vouchers to spend so I will look out for one. (I mentally spend my vouchers over and over again before I finally buy - all part of the fun and anticipation!)

Lovely Spritz, mine is looking a bit sorry for it's self at the momet, i was wondering if it is fully hardy, i did take some cuttings from it at the end of the summer, so i am hoping they might have taken just incase, but i think i will give it a good hair cut when conditions improve in a month or two and see what happens, a lot of the tips have browned off with all the cold and frost and snow etc, but it does look like there are a few signs of new growth at the base. we will have to wait and see won't we.

My first one is OK, but not as beautiful as the new one. It is in a sheltered corner. I'll have to see how this one gets on as it's a bit more exposed - I might need to fleece it if the weather turns cold.

I always ask for garden vouchers for Mothering Sunday, my girls ask me what I want, so I tell them (in the nicest possible way)

The trouble is that if we don't take the ocasional risk and buy a beautiful plant which gives a lot of pleasure, I feel we are missing out. So although I haven't a clue (obviously) about what next winter may bring, I am going to enjoy my garden in the meantime and some plants which could need help IF the weather isn't kind.

I was upset whan I lost my beautiful Eleagnus which is VERY hardy but apparently didn't like two wet summers with a wet winter in between! So even hardy shrubs etc can succumb. That's gardening for you!

Lovely hebe - I've got similar one in a pot on patio so more sheltered and doing well - will plant it out later on. Just bought a lovely red tinged euphorbia called Helena's Blush after reading your winter blogs Spritz. I agree about taking risks - in my case it's more that I don't know enough about gardening to always be sure if something will work but I enjoy while it lasts!
