I thought I'd shoot a little perspective. Through the steps looking out the east window over the saintapulia table.

your right Deida......I would love to get to greenthumbs house and have a real nose around. Like living in a well stocked greenhouse all year....how lovely that must be..............

lol......Many outdoor freezers around here. Dogs are the more common raider....lol.
Thanks so much for the comments! I am starting to see sun all day long! Sunrise at 830 and sunset at 5. We're still cold, around 0F. About cumulative 2ft of snow right now. Still a storm now and then. (Nothing that brutal than the cold in Fairbanks) Breakup, that is the coming marathon weeks of thaw, occur in the end of April. It'll be above freezing during that month, but takes it awhile to work into the core and melt it off. I'm expecting some indoor spring buds on the plants soon, especially these african violets in the window. I just can't wait. Started up my strawberries.
The garden is my joy, brings me through any sad days. I'll make a little virtual tour....lol. Rare for me. I've taken some around the house shots of things to share and set a before shot. Once I start seed and cuttings next month it starts getting far too full. I've moved things around upstairs so it might go better this year.
I brought the fridge and poked it into that corner. The little undercounter fridge that came in the rental just sorts my tupperware.....lol.

Janey, the bears are still sleeping. They're not around much until things start thawing out. Thinking of bear reminds me of a time I was sleeping in a little cabin in the woods and awoke to something large, huffing and pawing in the dark outside. I went out and saw a darker shape moving in the shadows. I was very still for a while....lol... and then just huffed back at it, stomped on the ground and moved to go back in, hoping it would move off. It shifts into the light and its just a porcupine. A big one granted, almost bigger than I'd ever seen, but just a porcupine. It all goes back to what I find out to be his knawing off of the cabin lumber all summer. Porcupine here are very large as well. I thought i might be eaten in my sleep out in the woods! lol :-)

we dont get bears or porcupines...lol. but this last few weeks the numbers of starlings in the garden have been growing. at least a thousand. trees wires sheds all covered in them. they make a right racket. but i love watching them fly around the valley.

I love droves of starling. We had them in Idaho growing up. Like a dark flashing cloud shivering about. Almost overwhelming. I like it too. :-)
